The stage area is walled off. Only a viewing slit, placed at eye level with the audience, provides insight. The perspective is limited and at first you only see the legs of the actor, busy on the other side. What is he doing? His actions undoubtedly follow guidelines - he seems to want something. But his activities lead to surprising outcomes. Eventually, someone joins him, lending his solitary presence distinctly new dimensions.
The events on stage connect to experiences any of us might have had in the past few months, in a special way. People, isolated, have come to terms with the world that immediately surrounds them. Through the French artist Etienne Monceau, this becomes tragically comical and tremendously touching.
