BITBYBIT

Strength. Not the kind of strength that fills a room, but a quiet and tenacious power that makes one gasp. The muscles used are abdominal, neck and jaw. Two protagonists are tied together with a rope whose ends are hooked onto mouthpieces. It seems to be all about clenching their teeth but there is more: They are standing on a catwalk above the floor, and they lean back, stiff as boards, carefully keeping each other balanced.

Nothing but precisely controlled movements are possible, and each effort is concentrated, coordinated. But then one breaks away, hoists the other up into the air, and suddenly they are both on the ceiling. And there they deliver, briefly and unexpectedly, a spectacular demonstration of remarkable strength.

This predominantly serene performance captivates audiences as they watch the talented brothers, Simon and Vincent Bruyninckx, masterfully navigate an initially bizarre scenario, until they seamlessly unite as one.

By the way, this act of "hanging by the mouth on a rope" is a revitalized ancient circus discipline, which makes an extraordinary comeback to the performance ring in BITBYBIT.
