Aarau named «Switzerland’s Capital of Culture 2030»
Aarau has been selected as Switzerland’s Capital of Culture 2030, prevailing over the competing candidates Thun, Bellinzona and Lugano.
Yesterday, Thursday 4 June, Aarau was officially chosen as Switzerland’s Capital of Culture 2030. Following La Chaux-de-Fonds, it will become only the second Swiss city to hold this title.
The designation recognises Aarau’s vibrant and diverse cultural scene. Cultural institutions, festivals, associations, artists and many dedicated individuals have helped shape Aarau into a place of encounter, creativity and cultural exchange for many years.
We warmly congratulate the City of Aarau and everyone involved on this outstanding achievement. We are delighted and proud to be part of Switzerland’s Capital of Culture 2030 as a festival rooted in Aarau. 🎪
