The cirqu’ Festival 2025 is over.
From June 12 to 22, the tenth edition of cirqu’ took place, attracting over 11'500 spectators to the city – more than ever before. This marks an increase of nearly 30%. The anniversary edition impressed with top-class productions and an unforgettable festival atmosphere. Most shows were sold out.
Nearly 4'500 people attended one of the 26 ticketed performances. Many shows were completely sold out even before the festival began. Productions like MÖBIUS and BALLROOM were especially well received.
The festival kicked off in style with a musical opening at Schlossplatz: around 300 people celebrated the start of cirqu’ 2025 together with CIRCA TSUÏCA and the STADTMUSIK AARAU. In general, cirqu’ 2025 could be felt all over the city – with numerous free performances in public spaces. One of the highlights was the musically surreal underwater performance AQUASONIC, which captivated countless spectators.
Even the weather was on the festival's side: ten days of sunshine, no cancellations, and no noteworthy incidents – everything ran smoothly from an organizational point of view.
In addition to the wide public audience, the festival also attracted professionals from around the world: guests from Japan, New Zealand, South Africa, Taiwan, and many European countries came to Aarau specifically to discover new productions, build networks, and experience the diversity of contemporary circus.
With this edition, cirqu’ has firmly established itself as a festival of international relevance – while remaining deeply rooted in Aarau. The organizers look back with great pride and gratitude on this successful anniversary edition – and are already planning the next festival in June 2027.
