The first week of the festival has plenty in store for families – from juggling in a truck or the Alte Reithalle to open-air circus fun with two curious gentlemen (or are they clowns?) and Zirkus Chnopf live on the Maienzugplatz.
BALLROOM – Post uit Hessdalen (BE), suitable for ages 5 and up
In «Ballroom», as the ambiguous title of this brand-new piece suggests, the balls dance a ball within a room. Yes, indeed—the balls dance! In an inexplicable way, they suddenly take on a life of their own. A small detail: the room is not a ballroom but rather the interior of a truck. Truly space-like and quite entertaining.
CERAMIC CIRCUS – Julian Vogel – Cie. unlisted (CH), suitable for ages 7 and up
In the rhythm of the spinning ceramic sphere, Julian Vogel's circus slowly unfolds, culminating in a tension-filled and drumming rollercoaster ride. One thing is certain: Ceramics + Circus = Shatter Zone.
SURCOUF – Cie Sacékripa (FR), for all
Two People have to do a few things before they start. And to figure out how to get to place where the performance will take place. How will they get there? With their small, shabby boat, of course. A motor? Oh no, certainly not. They row.
DER LAUF DER DINGE – Zirkus Chnopf (CH), for all
On the trapeze, teamwork soars past, actions juggle with reactions and daring moves walk the fine line between success and failure. With plenty of humor, eleven young artists both surrender to and resist the course of events in this piece, through a fusion of circus, dance, and music.
